Cisco 6260 Quad-Port Flexi ATU-C to Octal-Port DMT ATU-C Line Card Conversion Procedures
OL-0991-01
Quad-Port Flexi ATU-C to Octal-Port DMT ATU-C Line Card Conversion Procedures
In a Cisco 6260 with a POTS splitter configuration using octal-port xTU-C line cards, it is necessary to
expand the system to accommodate 240 ports in one of the following ways:
Verify that a total of two Corning 120 POTS splitters are installed in the rack.
Remove the current Corning 120 POTS splitter and install an ADC Broadwire 240 POTS splitter.
Note For installation procedures for each POTS splitter, refer to the appropriate
third-party documentation.
Warning
To prevent bodily injury when mounting or servicing this unit in a rack, you must take special
precautions to ensure that the system remains stable. The following guidelines are provided to
ensure your safety:
- This unit should be mounted at the bottom of the rack if it is the only unit in the rack.
- When mounting this unit in a partially filled rack, load the rack from the bottom to the top with
the heaviest component at the bottom of the rack.
- If the rack is provided with stabilizing devices, install the stabilizers before mounting or
servicing the unit in the rack.
Warning
Two people are required to lift the chassis. Grasp the chassis underneath the lower edge and lift
with both hands. To prevent injury, keep your back straight and lift with your legs, not your back.
Verify the Cisco 6260 Cabling
The Champ connector pinouts on the back of the Cisco 6260 chassis are mapped for octal-port xTU-C
line cards. Verify that industry-standard unshielded twisted pair (UTP) 50-pin Champ cables are
currently used in your configuration. If you are making your own cables or using another type of cable,
see the “Port Mapping of Subscriber Connectors to Slots and Ports” section on page 15 for port
mapping information.
Remove the 4xflexis
Complete the following steps to remove 4xflexis from the Cisco 6260 chassis:
Step 1 Connect a grounding strap to the ESD grounding jack that is located on the top right of the Cisco 6260
card cage.
Step 2 Use a flat-head screwdriver to move the locking tabs from the locked to the unlocked position on the
4xflexis. Be sure to turn the locking tab so that it does not overlap the line card ejector tab, as shown in
Figure 1.
