Known Problems and Work-Arounds
5967–4358 29
Description Load Monitor’s Source graph shows anomalous data
Symptom When viewing a Source graph For Each Update Interval, sometimes a
host appears with a very large data value.
Details For performance reasons, Load Monitor often uses a hostTopN study to
retrieve data values for the Source graph when accessing a LanProbe or
standard RMON agent.
This TopN study is created according to the criteria defined by the
Source data properties. When displaying data For Each Update Interval,
data values are calculated for a delta, which requires at least two data
points per host.
Over time, the hosts fitting the criteria change, and the associated host-
TopN table also changes. When a host appears for the first time in the
Source graph, only one data point is available; consequently, no delta can
be computed. In this case, the displayed value is based on the cumulative
count, which is often very large relative to the other items in the graph.
Work-Around Wait until another update interval has elapsed (such that two data
points are available).
Description Load Monitor’s Conversation segment graph sometimes loses
traffic lines
Symptom When displaying the Conversation segment graph, certain combinations
of properties may cause the graph to lose all traffic lines.
Details If you change the Conversation segment graph’s Scale Type to Percent-
age, then change any of the data properties, the traffic lines may disap-
pear, leaving only a segment ring with unconnected nodes. This problem
occurs only with the segment graph type.
Work-Around If the problem occurs, you can clear it by changing the graph type to bar,
applying the change, then changing it back to segment. To avoid the
problem, display Conversation as a bar graph, set the properties you
want, then switch to the segment graph.
