HP OpenView NetMetrix/UX Release Notes version 6.0
October 1, 1998
Known Problems and Work-Arounds
5967–4358 37
Internetwork Response Manager/Agent
Description Non-IP targets must be in same broadcast domain as the agent
performing the test
Details This problem affects tests with these protocols: IEEE 802.2 and Novell
802.3.
These targets will appear unreachable (typically, orange) or unknown
(typically, blue) unless the target system is in the same broadcast domain
as the LanProbe or IRA performing the test. That is, the echo/response
test is not propagated across a router.
Work-Around Configure non-IP tests using a LanProbe or IRA that is within the same
broadcast domain as the target node.
Description Internetwork Response Manager fails to update status when
community strings are not configured
Details IRM allows you to create a target on a LanProbe if you do not have the
probe’s community strings, provided that the default community string
“hp_admin” allows at least level-3 access. Further, IRM will update the
status of the target you create. However, it will not update the status of
the Resp_Time_LP or the probe symbol in the DNA submap; these
symbols will be red until the correct community string is configured.
Work-Around Make sure that you have configured the correct community strings for
the probes. The get (or read) community string that you specify must
allow at least level-2 access to the probe. For details, refer to page .12 in
DNA User’s Guide.
Description Some probes allow a maximum of only 20 echo tests, instead of
100 echo tests
Details Refer to the description on page 41.
Work-Around None.
