Intergration with HP OpenView NNM

Description NetMetrix applications launched from OVNNM displays an error

message “unable to ﬁnd ovsnmp.conf” ﬁle

Symptom Launch a NetMetrix utility like LanProbe Conﬁguration or RMON

options. An error dialog displays that snmp.conf was not found and sug-

gests setting OVSNMP_CONF_FILE.

Details HP OpenView Network Node Manager (OVNNM) version 3.3 kept the

SMNP conﬁguration in a ﬂat ﬁle a called ovsnmp.conf. OVNNM versions

4.x and later keep s the database in ovsnmp.conf_db. OVNNM versions

4.x and later does not require the snmp.conf ﬁle. However, the utility

used for launching pmovsym2ip links with OVNNM version 3.3 libraries

for Solaris. Therefore the application looks for ovsnmp and fails if

OVSNMP_CONF_FILE is not set. [Defect ID 0804–022855]

Work-Around To have the ovsnmp.conf ﬁle mirror the database, follow these steps at

start-up only:

1 % xnmsnmpconf -optShadow all

The 'shadow' ﬁle- ovsnmp.conf keeps the database syncronized for all

entries in the database.

2 % xnmsnmpconf -shadow

Recreates the ovsnmp.conf ﬁle

3 % set OVSNMP_CONF_FILE = /etc/opt/OV/share/conf/ovs-

nmp.conf
