Chapter 1 Hardware Installation
Ground and Power Installation
Step 4 Locate the grounding receptacle on the side panel of the shelf (see Figure 1-13).
Step 5 Place the grounding lug against the grounding receptacle on the side panel of the shelf.
Step 6 Insert one of the screws through the locking washer and through the hole in the grounding lug. Screw
the screw into the threaded holes on the right side of the shelf. Ensure that the grounding lug will not
interfere with other system hardware or rack equipment.
Step 7 Repeat step 6 with the second screw.
Step 8 Prepare the other end of the grounding wire and connect it to an appropriate grounding point in your site
to ensure adequate earth ground for the shelf.

Procedure: Install Power Cards
The ONS 15454 SDH has redundant power connection cards -48V DC. The cards are labeled MIC-A/P
and MIC-C/T/P and are located in the electrical facility connection assembly. See the Front Door
Access section on page 1-11 for information about accessing the power terminals.
If the system loses power or if both TCC-I cards are reset, you must reset the ONS 15454 SDH clock.
After powering down, the date defaults to January 1, 1970, 00:04:15. To reset the clock, see the Set Up
Network Information section on page 3-4.
Note No more than 2 m (7 feet) of the power supply cable should be exposed between the equipment and
the cable-management tray.
